CHALLENGE
Create an engaging, interactive, and most of all-inclusive one-of-a-kind virtual event that celebrates the achievements of Twilions from around the world.
SOLUTION
By using ‘80’s and ’90s variety shows as inspiration, we concepted, produced, scripted, and programmed an 85+ minute virtual show that brought 8200+ Twilions together to celebrate success, diversity, and inclusion.
RESULTS
Exclusivity // Inclusivity // Family Connection // Nostalgia // Diversity // Concert
revue /rɪˈvjuː/
light theatrical entertainment consisting of a series of short sketches, songs, and dances
Inspired by classic variety shows of the past, we wanted to transport viewers back to a time when families got together in front of the television to watch their favorite shows. To do that, we needed the perfect formula for success.
CO-HOSTS
Co-hosted by Shangela (RuPaul’s Drag Race) and Twilio’s Chief People Officer, Christie Lake. Their endless banter and natural chemistry kept the Revue flowing seamlessly from segment to segment while creating a special bond with our viewers.
MUSIC
Wrangled and attained global musicians from multiple genres to represent Twilions from each individual region (AMERICAS + LATAM / EMEA / APAC). Our list included 17-time Grammy winner Sting, the first bi-lingual girl group Bella Dose, and the international dance group The London School of Bollywood.
SEGMENTS
Created a multitude of storyline segments that transitioned in between our musical performances including an ’80s themed talent show, a television sculpture opening, a Twilio puppet scene, and even a Benny Hill-style hide and seek moment.
CREATIVE DIRECTION
Lead the build of an immense digital and physical asset library for the entire show. Each asset was fully thought out and designed to amplify every segment. By utilizing the Twilio brand look +feel, we were able to produce a number of props, stages, scripting, animations, music, and yes, even puppets.
PRODUCTION
Filmed in several locations such as San Francisco, Miami, New York, and London. We also ideated and created multiple stages for our co-hosts that alternated between segments. Developed a consistent set theme that tied all our performances together. By using Twilio’s brand ethos as our guide, we successfully brought physical, lighting, and design elements together for every location.
